I’ve read unChristian and thought it was very well done…eye-opening, sobering, and pretty much the way my generation sees things.
I have the Everything Must Change book…just started it…so I don’t have a comment yet.

I have not read “Everything Must Change” by Brian McLaren. I have however read the online synopsis and reviews, which state the premise that the kingdom of God is present, available, and expected now, not just in heaven when we die. (“The kingdom of God is among you!”). “What if Jesus came to start a political, social, religious, artistic, economic, intellectual, and spiritual revolution that would give birth to a new world?”
I like this.
Imagine what such a world would be like. We would be one family under God, with God, God’s love and God’s truth as the centre. Everyone would feel God not just conceptually, but know His love for each of us. His truth and love would be so tangible and indisputable that Bill Maher and friends would adore and serve God as their parent, and we would live in harmony with each other in brotherly love.
Who would wish to do anything that would cause pain to their neighbour, when it would cause their conscience even more pain? People would substantially feel that God wants them to love each other transcendent of time and space and be aware that He observes our every act. Therefore people would have no desire to commit sins.
As individuals we would resemble God, bearing the fruit of God’s goodness and love. Our character would embody true love so we would naturally live with the spirit of public service.
We would multiply God’s goodness with the blessing He gave us in Gen 1:28. Nations would live for each other, sharing their discoveries and technology Why would we need for police, prisons, lawyers and a military? There would be no wars, crime, drug abuse, alcoholism and all the problems they cause, no STD’s or abortions Hospitals would save so much money healthcare would be free and thousands of times better. God would dwell in our families so how could there be infidelity, divorce or abuse? Nothing can compare to the value of true love. It has the power to dissolve the barriers fallen people have created, including national boundaries and the barriers of race and even religion
He gave us the blessing of dominion over creation (Gen 1:28). With God’s love everything in the universe will respond to us and come to our feet; solving all the environmental problems. If God can crate a universe He surely has the solution to Global warming.
Revelations prophesies that even God will come to dwell with us. He will be in our hearts and our families and our homes. It stands to reason that God will be in our community, nation and world, we would be one family under God. What better training for our eternal life in heaven, living in the light of His truth and breathing the air of His love?
Is this why Jesus asked us to pray “Thy kingdom come, on earth as it is in Heaven”? Is this what Please Forgive James is all about?
